This 8 week flex course will focus on seven of the major land biomes on the planet. Each week will focus on one of the biomes in depth, and students will learn about the organisms in that environment, along with the adaptations required for them to survive. Students will learn the locations of seven land biomes on Earth. They will explore the various climates, organisms, benefits from and environmental threats to each biome, then decide which one they like best and write a descriptive paragraph to explain why they chose that biome.
During my 26 years as a public school teacher, I taught inquiry science to all ages groups. When I left the classroom, I served as a science and math teacher development specialist, wrote and delivered science professional development to teachers across the district, and wrote district science curriculum and assessments for elementary grades.
