Chemistry is one of the pillars of middle school science. In this course, Introduction to Chemistry II, your student will learn new chemistry concepts through a mix of hands-on experience with classic classroom preparation. We will break apart each concept, look at the parts, and then put them together to see the whole picture. At the end of this course, your student will be able to: - Create Lewis Electron Dot Diagrams for elements and compounds. - Describe the bonding differences between ionic and covalent bonds. - Explain the polar nature of water and describe how it gives it unique properties. - Investigate the properties of different substances and how they affect their ability to dissolve. - Identify what will cause a reaction to release (exothermic) or absorb (endothermic) energy using the reaction's chemical equation. - Describe what makes a substance acidic or basic and how to neutralize those substances.
