THIS CLASS IS FOR AGES 13+. Professional interpretations will be age-appropriate, so it is highly recommended that students be signed up for the appropriate class for their age. This class for ages 13+ will be rated PG-13. No prior experience with Shakespeare is required. Shakespeare used plants and flowers to convey information about the scene that we were watching. We will take a walk down Shakespeare's garden path and explore the hidden meaning of plants and flowers from the Elizabethan...
Students will recognize context and subtext and will learn historical meanings behind flowers and plants.
I hold a BA in Performing and Visual Arts with a focus in Early British Drama and Shakespeare and have won several awards for my work in this field. I have spent over 20 years studying and producing the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. In my classes we use video, guests, and unconventional tools to learn the topic together. I design all of my instruction around first creating a safe space, then doing what I call a "Sweep the Corners" review at the start of each session. At the completion of the course, we always Pack Up our learning and set off into our vast world!
