Unit 1Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) basicsObject-Oriented Programming (OOP) basics5 lessons5 WeeksWeek 1Lesson 1Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) basics 1Student are given a practical exercise that uses Object Oriented Programming style. The example given is similar to the pre-work example that students complete before the first day of class.Week 2Lesson 2Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) basics 2Student are given a practical exercise that uses Object Oriented Programming style.Week 3Lesson 3EncapsulationEncapsulation is like putting things in a box or a capsule. In programming, it means bundling together the data (variables) and the functions (methods) that operate on the data into a single unit, called a class. This helps in organizing and managing the complexity of the code. Students are given a practical exercise to practice this concept.Week 4Lesson 4InheritanceIn OOP, Inheritance allows one class (the child or derived class) to inherit the properties and behaviors (methods) of another class (the parent or base class). Students are given a practical exercise to practice this concept.Week 5Lesson 5Mid ReviewIn this lesson, students practice creating classes that encapsulate data and methods, and explore how inheritance can be used to create more specialized classes based on existing ones. Students are given a practical exercise to practice this concept.Unit 2Collaborative Coding ExercisesCollaborative Coding Exercises3 lessons3 WeeksWeek 6Lesson 6Collaborative Coding Exercise 1Students work in group to solve coding challenges. Students will share their answer and work to confirm understand of the solution.Week 7Lesson 7Collaborative Coding Exercise 2Students work in group to solve coding challenges. Students will share their answer and work to confirm understand of the solution.Week 8Lesson 8ReviewIn the final week of class, we will review content from weeks 1-7.
- Scripting basics: Teach students how to create and manipulate objects in Roblox using Lua scripting.
- Debugging: Teach students how to find and fix errors in their code.
