수업 소개
영어 수준 - 알 수 없음
미국 4학년 - 5학년 학년
Learners will spend 50 minutes each week discussing the various details of a Roald Dahl book. During the meetings, learners will be encouraged to read critically, share their opinions, and discuss literary devices. Each lesson will begin with each learner having the opportunity to share news or a favorite toy with the rest of the class. This encourages participation and enhances class discussions later in the lesson. Next, each lesson will discuss theme, characterization, plot structure and setting elements from the weekly book. These four points will always be covered in each class, since they are the four pillars of critical reading. In addition, each week will have a different literary emphasis and discussion focus. Learners will know the topic in advance in order to help develop their critical reading skills. The last five minutes of each lesson will be dedicated toward learners sharing their own imaginative alternate endings for each book. Although these book club classes will be fun and social, I will emphasize real-world skills such as critical thinking and creativity as well as the soft skills of effective communication and active listening during each lesson. The scope and sequence is as follows: Week of June 9: George's Marvelous medicine Descriptions Week of June 16: The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me Setting Development Week of June 23: The Witches Character Development- Round and Flat Characters Protagonist and Antagonist Week of June 30: The BFG Plot Development Week of July 7: Boy, Tales of Childhood Symbolism Week of July 14: Going Solo Folktale, Myth, Legend Week of July 21: Danny, Champion of the World Inference Conclusions Week of July 28: Matilda Opinions supported through details Summarizing Week of August 4: Magic Finger/Esio Trot Suspense features Week of August 11: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Foreshadowing Week of August 18: Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator Vocabulary Week of August 25: James and the Giant Peach Literary Devices (repetition, alliteration, metaphor, etc.)
