In this course, students will learn about a different historical event each day through an inclusive perspective that shows multiple sides of the story. Over the course of four days, students will learn about Christopher Columbus's life, his voyages, and the destruction he caused when he came in contact with indigenous populations, The Louisiana Purchase, and Lewis and Clark's ventures across the U.S. that could not have happened without the presence of York and Sacagawea, The Trail of Tears...
Learners will have a clear understanding of the presented key figures, events, details, and effects. Students will see historical events from multiple perspectives and acknowledge that there are multiple sides of history that defy the "traditional" historical viewpoint. They will be able to summarize the main points discussed in each week's class: Christopher Columbus, Lewis and Clark, The Trail of Tears, and Pearl Harbor. Students will demonstrate comprehension of materials while completing a weekly comic strip depicting the topics covered in class.
I have multiple degrees in history and have been tutoring the subject for the past five years. I am comfortable with approaching sensitive material and explaining it in an age-appropriate manner. My ethnic background also enables me to approach subject the matter from a different point of view.
This course is designed with various learner needs in mind. There are NO tests, homework to be completed after class, or verbal participation. This experience allows learners to work at their pace with additional support as needed.

No graphic or violent images or videos will be used as teaching materials in this class. However, we will discuss lives lost. Everything is discussed in a very sensitive and age-appropriate manner that avoids propelling America's "traditional" history that often leaves out multiple prospectives and the country's errors. The complete picture will be shown in the course, but it will leave learners feeling enlightened rather than frightened.

Hi Everyone! My name is Kayla and I am a serious history nerd. (Don't worry, it's in a cool way) While I take education seriously and want to ensure that my learners get all of the facts they need, I do not think class is truly beneficial to...
