😀This 1:1 tutoring class is perfect for the learner who needs or wants help with language arts grammar, writing, and/or vocabulary. I have been an elementary public school teacher, worked with students in multiple grades, served as a school librarian, and am the author of over 25 books for kids that have sold over 40000 copies. I am a proud "Grammar Geek" and am ready to help your child to become more capable and confident with language arts. Because this is a tutoring class, communication with the parent is very important.

Topics are plentiful but can include the following:

📖Does your child need help with a specific assignment? Please give me advance notice by uploading to the classroom.
📖...with writing? Narrative? Persuasive? Creative Writing? Etc.?
📖...with grammar rules?
📖...with parts of speech?
📖...with writing dynamic sentences?
📖...with finding interesting literature?
📖... with vocabulary?
📖...with dialogue writing?
📖...with story elements?

I will tailor lessons specifically to your child, and parent communication and input is valued. If you just want a "little bit of this or that," I also have different writing, grammar, and vocabulary lessons for your child.

👩‍🏫Typical class structure lessons for students who just want an overall improvement in language arts/grammar/writing have looked like this:
✔️Correction of two sentences at the start of class (to learn or reinforce punctuation/spelling/grammar/capitalization rules, etc.)
✔️New grammar lesson (ie: parts of speech, dialogue writing, homophones, synonyms and antonyms, similes, types of sentences, etc.)
OR New writing lesson (persuasive writing, how-to writing, writing more powerful sentences, etc.)
✔️New vocabulary words to add to a journal

I will provide notes to the parents about our lesson experience after class. If desired, I can provide homework that I will assess.

I am here to help increase your child's confidence. I am patient and supportive and many say silly, in only the best ways!😁😁 I engage the students to keep grammar and writing fun while they learn.
