수업 소개
All learners are welcomed! Learners may join as many 2-day camps as they like, since different campers bring different knowledge to the class. Before you can catch ‘em all, you need to learn about them. And so in this 2-day long camp, learners will have the opportunity to learn about the energy types, and various Pokemon characters (Any from Abomasnow to Zygarde) from the 8 different regions. Students will then have the opportunity to research their Pokemon characters on their own time and fill out a short worksheet (PDF will be provided in the classroom) with the information they will then come back to share and present to the other learners on Day 2. Various skills, such as presentation, researching, listening, taking turns to speak in class, and more will be reinforced during these 2-days. Day 1: Discuss the different regions where Pokemon figures come from, discuss the different energy types and the power of attacks that comes from them, and finally pick a few Pokemon characters to discuss. We will learn what they can do and some of their strength and weaknesses. Then, before the class ends, learners will choose 1-3 Pokemon characters they would like to look up stats and facts about, using the worksheet provided as a guide for homework. Learners are asked to get their facts checked by Ms. Stephenie before presenting their findings with other learners. Day 2: Ms. Stephenie will allow the learners to present their findings, after fixing up wrong facts, if any, and if time allows, more Pokemon characters will be discussed to build up the learners' knowledge base. All learners will have the opportunity to share which Pokemon and Energy is their favorite. This is a learning class for all new and old Pokemon fans. We learn together and learners will have fun talking and listening to each other. Learners may take this 2-day camp as many times as they like. Please do not hesitate to ask for a schedule that works for your learner, I can try to accommodate. Let’s learn and catch ‘em all!

Learners will be asked to look up 1-3 assigned Pokemon characters on their own and fill out a provided worksheet that will guide them. Pokemon toys or Trading cards are NOT necessary, but can be used in class. Printout of the worksheet will be highly recommended.

Hello!
My name is Ms. Stephenie. I have been teaching various subjects for over 28 years. Although I had a few major career changes, the one thing that never changed was my passion for teaching anyone who wants to learn.
While I have a Biomedical Engineering degree from Columbia University, my students also come to me to learn non-STEM subjects, test taking strategies, music and more.
I have taught basic introduction to advanced levels in various subjects, such as math (Singapore Math, Algebra, Pre-Calc, and etc.), sciences (biology, earth science, chemistry, physics), medical/dental subjects, STEAM/STEM topics, language arts, history, languages (Mandarin Chinese, ESL), test prep (SAT, SSAT, SHSAT, ACT, AP, MCAT, DAT, COGAT/OLSAT, NYS Regents, and etc.), robotics/coding, interviewing skills (former interviewer), public speaking, and music (former competitive piano and violin player) 🎶 . I teach music theory to beginner students of all ages in fun interactive ways and have helped them with their music auditions.
As an Educational Consultant, private admissions consultant, teacher, tutor, a stay-at-home mother, PTO mom, baseball/softball and field hockey Coach, Robotics Coach and Girl Scout Troop Leader, I am passionate in guiding students to try new things, be successful in what they do and to help them accomplish their personal goals, whether it is to learn how to play tennis, or to bake cookies made from scratch, to scoring high on their college admissions exams. I enjoy what I do and always find teaching to be the best part of my day. I also love teaching my own two kids, so I understand what kind of classes kids will enjoy and learn from.
With the current technology and virtual platform, my students come from all over the world. And I also enjoy learning from my students, as not one student is alike and can teach me so much about their culture, interests and experience. There’s always so much to learn from each other. And I strongly encourage the love of learning. So let’s begin this journey together!
