수업 소개
Do you enjoy playing with your words? Are you always finding puns, riddles and rhymes in your world? Or is this out-of-the-box thinking somewhat of a challenge and you need encouragement to get those "creative juices" flowing? In this ongoing poetry writing club, Junior Poets will be introduced to traditional structures and styles of poetry, then be supported in their creation of an original work using a theme or subject of their choice. Students will explore: Musicality of Language Compression of Language (departure from traditional conventions) Meter (ie. syllables, word or sound length, emphasis, time signature) Rhyming Schemes (including phonetic and oral manipulations) Formatting and Shapes (words as pictures, punctuation as sound manipulation) Hidden Messages (figurative language, found poetry and secret words) and more! Example of Weekly Writing Tasks: Week of 11/1) Chanso Week of 11/8) Rhyming Couplet Week of 11/15) Dodoitsu Week of 11/22) Fibonacci *Please note: The actual poetry form and task each week will be dictated at the start of each class and may include any of the following, in addition to unlisted styles: Haiku, Rhyming Couplets, Sonnets, Fibonaccis, Cinquains, List, Skeletonic, Acrostic, Alphabet, Blitz, Dodoitsu, Found, Limerick, Lai, Nonet, and more! Long-term students may see repeated activities. By repeating, students should experience increased writing competency and confidence. No experience is necessary. Students who are new to poetry writing will be supported in their journey. Time-permitting, students may read their poems out loud for peer and teacher review, though all will be encouraged to take advantage of the classroom comments to present their working drafts or final creations after class. Class Rules: Enrolled Students Only. Cameras On (unless the teacher approves a parent’s request). Microphones Muted (if there is background noise). No Foul, Hurtful or Offensive Language or Gestures Allowed. Please contact the teacher in advance if there are any issues that might interfere with reading, writing, speaking or attending to the lesson. We can work together to accommodate the student’s varied learning styles and differences.
