Students will need to own a guitar that is comfortable for young hands to hold. Students will also need to purchase 2 books for this course. An adult will need to tune the guitar daily for students before each class. In this course students will learn how to play simple melodies each week focusing on reading musical notation. Learners will play their guitar during class and will be encouraged to ask questions of the teacher and the class. Singing may be asked of each young musician, only...
The goal for this course will be to understand how to read and play music on the guitar. Students will be encouraged to play music for peers enrolled in the course, as well as for friends and family members. Please note some students may learn songs rather fast, if that is the case more music will be distributed.
I have been teaching guitar since I was in high school. I have had almost 2 decades of experience working in the elementary classroom and really try to connect with students to help them understand and enjoy the language of music.

I do suggest that parents stay near by during the lessons (yet remain off camera) to help their young children understand and/or maneuver their hands appropriately around the instrument.
