Looking at Photoshop (or FREE Photopea) for the first time can be overwhelming, but in this easy introduction, I will show you the basics. In this course, learners will go from absolute beginner to being able to do basic photo editing, make fun collages, and complete simple graphic design projects.

Mastering a digital art program takes a combination of technical and artistic skills, so this a great class for learners that have some level of ability to use a computer (downloading pictures, using a mouse or drawing tablet, etc.) and some interest in photography, digital art, or technology.

My goal is to create a fun, creative learning environment where students can comfortably learn about Photoshop, bring their imagination to life, and share their digital art with one another.

It is easier for students to share what they are doing and get help if Photoshop or Photopea is being used on the same computer running Zoom. Please check your device to make sure that Zoom's screensharing permissions are enabled.

Class structure:
Students will be provided a set of photos to edit in the classroom log-in page. Students with a little more Photoshop experience may substitute their own photos. Students must have already downloaded the photos and know which folder they were downloaded to, before class begins. 

Each class will begin with a review, followed by a teacher demonstration of how to use some new Photoshop tools. The Camp will culminate in each student completing a creative project, independently.

Day 2:  Combining Images
Intro to Selections & the Magic wand tool
Drawing with the Brush tool
Layers & layer opacity
Transformations & resizing

Day 3:  Making a Greeting Card
Making a new file
Pixels and resolution
Lasso & Marquee Selection tools & selection practice
Tools: Fill, Gradient, Text
Layer Blending Options

Day 4:  Creative Project -- Photocollage Junk Robot
Magnetic Lasso Tool
Filters

Day 5:  Creative Project -- Photocollage Magical Creature 
Cut, Copy, Paste
Transformations


PRE-REQUISITE: 
Students should know the basics of computer operation before registering for this class. Please check with your student to make sure they know how to:
* use a mouse. (Please use a MOUSE, not a trackpad for this class!)
* use Zoom to share their screen, give permission for the teacher to control the screen remotely, mute/unmute.
* download a file from the Outschool class log-in page/ classroom.
* locate files downloaded to the computer or saved from Photoshop.
* search for and download images using your browser using Google image search or similar.
* upload files & post to Outschool's class log-in page/ classroom.
