This tutoring class covers all aspects of the essay writing process from choosing a topic to creating an outline all the way to polishing a finished final draft. It focuses specifically on writing persuasive (also known as argumentative) essays and the most common structure that educators look for when assigning these types of essays. It will help explain to learners not only how to create such an essay from start to finish, but will also give guidelines on how to do so when facing a time restriction (such as during a writing exam or timed assessment). If learners need assistance with a particular essay prompt, it is recommended that they have the prompt ready. The class will be discussion-based and will adapt to revolve around the individual needs of the learner and their essay.

Learners will be able to:
-Choose an appropriate and relevant topic
-Efficiently create an outline
-Turn an outline into a first draft an essay
-Include citations or outside evidence to support their claim
-Learn how to write a rebuttal for a counterclaim
-Refine a draft into finished product that follows the persuasive essay format

Ideally, learners will have some existing general essay-writing knowledge, but may be looking for more guided assistance with persuasive essays in particular in this class. However, learners at all stages in learning are welcome.
