This class focuses on the writing process where students write a rough draft, receive feedback from the teacher, and then submit a final copy to be graded on a rubric. The teacher will record a video for each student each week highlighting the things that the student did well and areas for improvement. Spelling, punctuation, and word choice errors will be corrected as well as any formatting errors. The teacher will make every effort to make the feedback positive and encouraging. The teacher also explains that every writer, even professional writers, go through the editing process where they must correct mistakes and re-write work. It is important that students learn that writing is an ongoing process that requires critique and revisions. 

The most common mistake that students make is not using the rough draft with feedback as a guide when writing the final copy. Students may make mistakes in the final copy that were not made in the rough draft. Students may also make the same mistakes in the final copy that they made in the rough draft, which will affect the rubric score.
