Students will learn various watercolor techniques to create this painting such as: wet on wet, wet on dry, brush stokes, glazing and the use of complimentary materials to enhance the composition. They will also be thought the effect of light and shadow on an outdoor scene such as the beach, the ocean and the sky. The watercolor materials needed will be reviewed and the characteristics of the watercolor pigment is taught. The composition of the painting will be discussed and analyzed as to...
Students will be introduced and learn specific watercolor techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, glazing and brushstrokes. They will learn to incorporate each of the techniques to create a beautiful ocean scene with a beach foreground and an island background. They will take this knowledge with them and they can use it to create their own watercolor beach or ocean scene.
Watercolor paint, watercolor brushes, watercolor papers (at least 2), paper towels, two cups water or one cup water and one empty cup, mixing plate, painters tape. Optional: Q-tips, small “T” square ruler, pencil, fine point marker For white areas at least one of the following, but it is optional: white acrylic paint, white fluid liquid corrector or white guache .
