I have been teaching secondary-level English, Social Science, and Special Education in a large public school district for 15 years. I have taught small Creative Writing for Kids classes, and have incorporated creative writing strategies into my work as a tutor. My own child is an avid reader and storyteller, so my expertise comes from this as well. Lastly, my short stories have been published in a range of literary journals.
Handouts may be occasionally posted in the online classroom. Learners will be invited to write and/or draw their story, so this means: - If the learner wants to DRAW as part of this class, they will need paper, and something to draw with, preferably coloured pencils or markers. - If the learner wants to WRITE as part of this class, they will need paper, pen/pencil, or a device they already know how to use for the purpose of word processing.
Learners will be asked to not include violence, gore, or excessively upsetting content in their stories. Nonetheless, it is expected that learners will be creating and sharing with each other "scary" stories.
