In this course, students will use problem solving skills to untangle hair, and adjust their parts and braids.  Fine motor skills, creativity, patience, perserverance, attention to detail, spatial awareness, cultural appreciation, self-expression, and time-management.

I teach each class using a discussion while I style my mannequin's hair.  Students are encouraged to participate and style their mannequins with me, but that's totally up to you!  If you want to come in and talk with us while also learning about  hair, that's not a problem.  I want kids to socialize and also take home tips about how to take care of and style their own hair.  

At the start of each class I like to get the students in the mood to talk, and then afterwards we will get into the style or the  lesson of the day.  Each class will include a different topic about hair including but not limited to, braids, twists, locs, crochet, how to take care of their hair, etc.  I like to use Power Points when I am teaching a lesson for the day but when I'm styling hair then I won't use the Power Point.  

Participation is needed for this class so I do require videos to be turned on for the entire duration of the class.  This helps me to have open discussions with them and if they're working on their mannequin I will also see that as well.  This is a social class where students will hopefully make friends with one another while also learning about HAIR!  This is a no-judgement zone, so feel free to come as you are, at any skill level and have fun with us.  

Please note:  This class talks about hair and how to style it, everyone is encouraged to join in no matter their hair type!

1.  Teacher led discussion topic, power point, props. Demonstration of the style or lesson and style for the day

I aim to make my class fun and educational for all of my students.  I want them to leave class with a new way of doing their own hair or doing others.  I also want them to learn how to properly care for their hair and help it to grow long and strong.  In addition, I want each student to get the opportunity to talk and connect with others from around the world.  If students do not wish to engage in the discussion that's fine as well, there's no pressure to do so.  I do ask that they check in during the beginning of class and cameras remain on.   

Hair has been passion of mines for over 20 years now so I can talk about hair all day long! I look forward to meeting you all on the first day of class!
