In this one-time drawing course, students will learn how to sketch a realistic portrait of a mythical unicorn (top of the unicorn's horn to the chest).  

What will students learn?

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a unicorn. 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn techniques for sketching long fur/hair.
4. Students will learn techniques for sketching realistic roses.
5. Students will learn techniques for sketching a realistic braid in the unicorn's mane.

I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me.  My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged.  I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding.  Students may also interact with each other if they want to share what they have learned during class.  Students who enroll in this class should have basic drawing skills, like drawing and manipulating shapes with a pencil.  In this class, we practice more advanced techniques (hair detailing, sketching realistic flowers, etc.)  Students who enroll in this class should have drawing experience.
