숙제
주당 1-2시간. I would like to encourage the students to practice the skills they have learned in each class for a few minutes each day. A certain time amount is not suggested, because each student learns at a different pace. Practice at home will be needed in order to master the skills learned in class. It is my ambition to create a fun and inviting classroom, which will encourage them to want to practice in order to master the skills learned.
학습 평가
No formal assessments will be given. Informal assessments will occur throughout each lesson through echo activities, question and answer, piano performance activities, and written skills training.

수업 소개

I am very excited to offer this 8 week multi-day piano class for students that have completed the previous class (and the "Faber Piano Adventures Lesson Book Primer Level" or the equivalent). Before enrollment in this class, students should have knowledge of the piano, including black notes and white notes. They should be able to play melodies with each of their hands (separately) and have knowledge of the musical alphabet. I am a retired public school music teacher and have taught private piano lessons in my home for many years. Through music, children learn about other subjects, such as math, science, language, and history. Music is a wonderful way to share your feelings with others and it can definitely affect your attitude in a positive way! My private piano students use the same teaching method that I will be using in this class. The method book used for this class will be the Faber Piano Adventures Primer Level Performance Book". The price of this book is less that $10.00. The basic goal of this class is to review the skills the students have already learned about music and the keyboard, as well as adding additional musical skills without being too challenging. We will have opportunities to practice the skills and note placement they have learned in a sequential method that will be fun and educational. Basic skills are listed for each of the weeks in this session. In addition to each of these basic skills, students will be given the opportunity to
play solos, clap rhythms, and draw musical symbols to reinforce and access their musical knowledge. I will also be sending additional songs and activities that we will be working on in class. These activities/songs will need to be printed out prior to the class so that students have access to them during their lesson. Through all of these activities, the students will gain confidence in their knowledge and musical abilities. As they gain confidence, the students will find themselves more comfortable playing in front of others. Additionally, I want to remind the students that it is okay to make mistakes and that making mistakes and hitting wrong notes is okay. That is the only way that we learn!

Week 1- Students will review the basic musical knowledge they have already learned to this point. They will review basics, such as
finger numbers, note names and placement on the staff.
Week 2- Students will learn/review Middle C, Treble G and Bass F. They will practice identifying these on the keyboard, as well as on
the staff. They will use these 3 notes to play songs.
Week 3- Students will learn/review the "C 5-finger Scale" using the notes C, D, E, F, and G. They will be able to play songs using both
               hands.
Week 4- Students will learn/review the left hand notes C, B, A, G, and F. They will practice naming these notes on the staff and
               on the keyboard.
Week 5- Students will learn/review "skips" in music and how they are different that "steps". They will be playing more than one note at
              a time (in one hand).
Week 6- Students will learn/review the notes Bass C, D, E, F, and G. They will learn the basic sentences and words to help them
to identify notes on Treble Clef and the Bass Clef.
Week 7- Students will learn/review the musical "tie" and the "rest". They will be able to play songs using ties and quarter rests.
Week 8- During this last lesson, students will have the opportunity to review all skills they have learned throughout the session. They
will have several opportunities to play solos.
학습 목표
In this session of piano classes, students will continue their musical educations by continuing the skills learned in the previous music classes. These students have completed the Faber Piano Adventures Lesson Book Primer Level (or the equivalent) and can play the piano with each hand separately. They they should be familiar with the placement of the notes on the piano and have some knowledge of notes on the staff. They will continue to learn how music elements, such as rhythm, melody, and dynamics work together to create songs. As in the other classes, this class will be filled with interactive activities through playing solos, and answering questions about musical symbols and notes.

수업 자료
Learners in this class will need access to a piano (or keyboard). A full-sized keyboard (with 88 keys) is not a requirement, but I would like to suggest that the keys on the keyboard are full-sized (not miniature keys). I have taught several students that needed to share a keyboard at the same time, and that has also worked very well.

Each student is asked to have a pencil with them at each class, as well as the activity/music sheets that I send prior to class (as needed).

Each student will also need to purchase the Faber Piano Adventures Primer Level Performance Book. This book is in the same series of books as the Lesson Book that they have completed. They will use this Performance Book as a basic source for the class, but I will also be sending additional activities and songs most weeks for them to use in class.
