Week 1Lesson 1Chapters 1-2This session will include the following activities: author study, discussion of the novel study, explanation of basic routines (vocabulary, fluency, content and discussion questions, cross-curricular opportunities, etc.), pre-reading activities, and reading the initial passage of the book together.Week 2Lesson 2Chapters 3-4This session will include the following activities: general discussion of students’ thoughts on the prior reading assignment, vocabulary activities, fluency discussion, content and discussion questions, sharing/discussion of prior cross-curricular assignment, beginning the new reading passage together.Week 3Lesson 3Chapters 5-6This session will include the following activities: general discussion of students’ thoughts on the prior reading assignment, vocabulary activities, fluency discussion, content and discussion questions, sharing/discussion of prior cross-curricular assignment, beginning the new reading passage together. (Educational Leadership/Summa cum Laude) When I was growing up, we traveled a lot, and I always looked forward to a new trip because my mother would buy a new stack of books for me. I would sit for hours in the back seat of our car and read. Whenever I ran out of books to read, I would read the billboards and every highway sign very loudly. That was rather tedious for my parents, so I'm sure that's why they always made sure I had plenty of books to read! Combine my love of reading with my experience as a reading teacher and my masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and I believe you'll find that I'm prepared and pumped-up to help your student's reading experience be the best it can be!
