Students will learn how to differentiate between different long vowel sounds combinations and digraphs  (magic e, ai, ay, ea, ee, ey, oa, ue, oo, au, ew, ar, er, or, ir, ou, ow, oi, oy, ar, ear) using the Montessori method of sound sorting, encoding (word building) and decoding words (reading). The Montessori Method provides fun, engaging and interactive lessons, giving students a foundation to build upon.  This method sparks joy in reading, and students gain a sense of confidence in their ability to read.  I will use Montessori learning materials such as mystery vowel sound sorting, the moveable alphabet, word building games and white board to teach these contents. Words and phrases from The Bob Books, set 5 will be referenced.  Children will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas. I  It will be an interactive, engaging and turn-taking class.  Everyone will have a chance to share thoughts and ideas,  making the class personable and memorable.  Bi-weekly work will be emailed to parents in PDF format for class preparation.  I will keep learning fun and light to make this class a pleasant learning experience.
