Students will learn about the role of municipal government and how different layers of government interact with one another. Students will be encouraged to think about the deeper implications of rather routine decisions.
I was raised talking about municipal politics, as a small town newspaper was run out of the basement of my parent's house. I am currently working as assistant-editor on the newspaper and will be sharing some of the situations that arose in council meetings on which I have reported. Although I'm working from Ontario, Canada, reporting on events in Alberta, Canada, I'll be trying my best to include issues that would be relevant in the United States and elsewhere.
