수업 소개

영어 수준 - 알 수 없음
미국 7학년 - 10학년 학년
This course is the same as my Middle School and High School Semester 1&2 courses but with the Meteorology & Oceanography and without the Geology, Physical Geography and Space Science parts. It is also for a wider age group and is shorter and varies in length due to summer holidays.

Welcome to the "Meteorology & Oceanography Summer Boot Camp" weekly ongoing class, which focuses on some of the most dramatic physical forces on Earth, with the aim of making learning fun and exhilarating. I think making learning enjoyable and bringing science to life is the best way to get kids engaged and learning without realising it. Each class will cover a stand alone topic and students can join or leave anytime. No previous experience necessary.

▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬
In this class we focus on all parts of the Earth Science school curriculum, with a new topic being introduced each week. All topics covered are an important part of any child's education in Geology, Meteorology, Physical Geography Oceanography and Planet Science.

▬▬▬▬▬ TOPICS COVERED ▬▬▬▬▬
Other dates are available and can also be requested.

1) THE ATMOSPHERE - MOISTURE, CLOUDS AND RAIN
2) WEATHER PATTERNS, AIR PRESSURE & EXTREME WEATHER
3) THE OCEAN FLOOR AND OCEAN SYSTEMS
4) OCEAN WATER AND OCEAN LIFE
5) WEATHER SYSTEMS
6) CLIMATE CHANGE
7) The Science behind recent dramatic Earth Science events 1
8) The Science behind recent dramatic Earth Science events 2

▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS STYLE ▬▬▬▬▬
I use PowerPoint presentations for all my classes, so I can mix text and multimedia (photos & videos) which I think makes the class more accessible and interesting. This class will be in a lecture style with an "intro-questions-repeat" format. This means I will take a few minutes to introduce a topic, using images or videos wherever appropriate in order to bring the subject alive. At the end of the section there is the opportunity to ask questions, although students can also ask questions anytime. Then we'll move on to the next exciting sub-topic and supporting material and then field questions if there are any. This means that you can enjoy the class however you like. Speak up and get involved and ask questions, or just listen and enjoy with no pressure.

I recommend following this class with Semester 1 if the student has not done it already and if the student would like a more interactive discussion class then please join Semester 3. I also do 4 day camps in the summer based on the same topics. Please contact me to arrange either one-off or ongoing bespoke 1-to1 tuition sessions.

학습 목표

* Ask questions about how heat transfers and humidity leads to rain
* Analyse how weather patterms form and where they occur
* Explain the main Ocean Structures and life systems in the Ocean
* Engage in arguments about how global warming may affect Global Climate Zones
* Determine why certain Earth Systems are harmful to human beings and how to manage that risk

학습 요구
Structured lecture classes, so participation optional, relieves anxiety Mixed media slides appeal to different learning styles Engaging topics keeps attention Slides can be seen before class Multi-choice questions avoids penalising spelling
학부모 가이드
Some classes talks about Global Warming and Climate Change causing more frequent natural disasters. It also talks about mass extinctions including the possibility of humans causing one now (including ourselves) and has some drawn images of animals dying to become fossils. We also discuss the end of the Sun and Solar System in 5 billion years. It is delivered in a upbeat manner with positive solutions (eg: switching to renewable energy, colonising other planets), but the more sensitive students may find these topics distressing.
