This class relies on recommendations for differentiating the common core mathematics curriculum for gifted and advanced students. Specifically, students will:
•	Think, reason, make sense, and go deeper 
•	Make generalizations and justify conclusions
•	Pose new mathematical questions of interest to investigate
•	Communicate with peers to generate new ideas
•	Create innovative mathematical problems and solutions

Math problems shared in this class will represent a variety of math standards, including but not limited to:
•	Operations and algebraic thinking
•	Number and operations in base ten
•	Measurement and data
•	Geometry
•	Number and operations- fractions

I’m so excited to offer this class as both a teacher who is a math nut and as a mom with kids who love math! I am a certified teacher, and in addition to teaching education courses for the local university, I currently teach accelerated math to small groups in my 2nd grader’s classroom and accelerated math (the Hands-On Equations method) to small groups in my 4th grader’s classroom. Through my small group teaching experiences and background as a professional educator, I have learned so many great strategies for making early math fun and interactive. I’m looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm and experience with you!
