Fractions are everywhere!  The more students are comfortable with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them, the easier it will be to perform skills such as:  solving equations, evaluating formulas, or finding the probability of an event.

In this class, we will spend 5-15 minutes reviewing how to add and simplify fractions, as well as changing improper fractions to mixed numbers.  We will then spend the remainder of class solving a decoder puzzle (Why Did The Boy Eat The Dollar He Brought To School?)  I am a firm believer in giving students think time, so time will be given for students to work independently before we share answers as a group.  Instruction will be provided as needed, but students should have a basic understanding of how to add, subtract, multiply and divide before taking this class.
