In this 7 week introductory course, learners will be introduced to animal classification and investigate the characteristics of the animal kingdom.  Learners will explore the different levels of Animal Taxonomy and focus on the Kingdom Animalia. Each week will examine a new group and investigate similar characteristics and traits of animals in these groups.  Learners will explore what makes vertebrates and invertebrates different, and see examples of animals in each group.  

Learners will create different trifolds on each group, and learn vocabulary such as adaptations, classification, species, camouflage, among others.

My classes are structured to include different methods to help each type of learner; auditory, visual and kinesthetic.  Classes are a mix between lectures, slides, videos, games and worksheets.  Participation is always encouraged and I believe in providing a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment. My teaching philosophy is that children learn better when they are having fun. I also believe that when people understand something and make a connection with it in a meaningful way, they will do their best to protect it.  That's why I think it is so important to teach science to children, so they will become informed and compassionate stewards of this planet.
