수업 소개
영어레벨 - B2+
미국 7학년 - 10학년 학년
Does your teen need to learn about money? If so, you're in the right place. ESA note: This class is structured to accept ESA funds for participating states and families. Over the next several months, we'll explore essential money-related topics that will help build a strong financial foundation. From learning how to earn and budget your teens income, to understanding the differences between credit and debit cards, and even diving into investments like stocks and real estate—this course covers it all. Along the way, we’ll also discuss the importance of insurance, the impact of taxes, and economic principles like supply and demand. By the end, you'll be well-equipped to make informed financial decisions that will benefit your teen now and in the future. 💵 Each lesson includes a detailed skill packet that provides students with an opportunity to apply their skills. These packets are self-contained and designed to be completed independently for ease of learning. When relevant, key ideas are explained to support video content, and if appropriate answer keys are included. 🚗Within the course we'll cover key ideas such as: 💳 the importance of getting a job, how to open a savings account, credit scores, positive spending decisions, insurance (home, car, health), an overview of taxes, as well as an introduction to financial investing. This course is like the ultimate treasure map (sometimes called Life 101 by kids and parents) guiding them towards financial independence and wealth creation. In each lesson we'll unlock a series of key topics that, when pieced together, will set students on the path to financial freedom! 🚀 Winter Homeschool Schedule (Classes starting first week of Jan) 1/5: Budgeting and Tracking One's Income 📊📝 1/12: Banks, Savings, and Checking Accounts 🏦💳💵 1/19: Credit Cards vs. Debit Cards, Credit Scores, and Interest Rates 💳📈💸 1/26: Loans: Student, Home, Auto 🎓🏡🚗 2/2: Investing in the Stock Market: Concepts (What is an asset?) 📊💡📈 2/9: Investing in the Stock Market: Financial Statistics 📉📊📚 2/16: Investing in the Stock Market: Technical Analysis 📈 3/2: Investing: Strategies and Risk ⚖️📊💡 3/9: Working: Employees, Contractors, Business Owners 👩💼👨💻💼 3/16: Real Estate: How does it compare to the stock market? 🏡📈📊 3/23: Investing: Funds and ETF Concepts and Strategies 📊📈💰 3/30: Currency Markets: Cash and Cryptocurrency 💵💰💻 4/6: Taxes: What They Are and How They Work 💰🧾 4/13: Inflation 📈💸 4/20: Interpreting a Paycheck 💵📝 4/27: Life, Health, and Auto Insurance🛡️❤️ 5/4: Microeconomics: Supply and Demand ⚖️📉📈 5/11: Macroeconomics: What Impacts the 'Markets'? 🌍📊💼 5/18: The Mortgage Crisis of 2008, a Cautionary Tale 🏡⚠️💸 5/25: Economic Actors and Systems ⚙️🌍💼 Note on content 📝 This class teaches financial skills that are broadly applicable in various regions of the globe, where individuals have access to retail and commercial banking services and market or mixed economies. While an attempt will be made to explain ideas so all students can understand, hyper local examples and command based systems fall outside these financial skills. The course has an implicit bias that wealth accumulation is societally acceptable and for those enrolled an objective as it pertains to their personal finances. Specifically, this class recognizes the ability to lend money at interest as a core concept within the financial world. It represents the importance of individuals being able to accumulate private property to pursue financial independence. How will class be taught? Each week we'll: a) reinforcement of key principles b) introduce a key financial literacy concept per the syllabus c) provide examples and a tool for use as appropriate Each class starts with 5 minutes (max) of tech onboarding time. Then we have at least 40 minutes of content and discussion. Class Policies 📚 Classes are taught as a combination lecture and discussion, encouraging student participation.
