March 14th (3.14) is Pi Day and gives math lovers everywhere a perfect reason to celebrate, but it also offers many opportunities to integrate many subjects. In this one-time class, we will integrate math and English. Learners do not need any prior knowledge or understanding of Pi to take part in this class. For math, we will learn what is Pi and the Pi symbol. Then we will transition to English and write Pi-ku poems. Pi-ku poems are inspired by haikus. We will practice counting syllables...
Students will understand the basic concept of Pi. Students will recognize the symbol for Pi. Students will compose a Pi-ku poem.
I have a BA in English and an M.ED. I was a public school teacher for 24 years and taught English, math, geography, earth science, and reading.
