In Let’s Learn to Draw: Cartoons, Animals & Other Fun Creatures, learners will review the basics of drawing various aspects of different cartoons, animals and creatures (ex. snouts, eye placement, paws, fins, etc), along with tips on perspective and shading and then have an opportunity to practice these techniques on a new cartoon, animal/creature each week. During each class, I will guide students with easy step by step instructions on how to recreate the featured cartoons, animals/creatures each week and offer help throughout the process. I suggest students share their artwork in progress as they need assistance or would like encouragement :). While they are more than welcome to recreate my drawing, I love it when students add their own flare and touches! Student's will also have a chance to create their own habitat for each creature. This class is mainly for beginners but intermediate learners are also welcome! If students are not finished with their drawings by the end of class, no worries! They can finish their masterpiece at home and bring it to the next class to share :). We love celebrating their accomplishments, so, at the end of every class, students will get a chance to share their drawing if they would like! This class is designed so that learners can gain confidence as budding artists, learn some valuable techniques that can be applied to many different cartoons, animals and creatures, all while having fun and have opportunities to tap into their boundless creativity! Students only need to have whatever paper they have on hand (although a drawing pad is probably best suited for class)and a good pencil and white eraser is preferable (a regular pink eraser is fine but might smudge the drawing when correcting any mistakes). Colored pencils or crayons are also nice to have on hand since both are great for shading.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Ms. Michelle. It is so nice to meet you! Thank you for taking time out of your day to check out my Bio. Let me begin by telling you a little bit about myself!
First, I am a wife and proud mother of 4 beautiful daughters! I hold a B.A in History, numerous college credits in Elementary School Education and have extensive experience with art, including but not limited to university-level training. I have worked as an ESL teacher to children in China, where I am TESOL certified (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I also teach Introductory Elementary French! Over the last 26 years, I have also had the privilege of working as a 5th grade private school teacher, Montessori summer teacher and tutor for the America Reads Challenge program. I have also homeschooled my 4 daughters for a number of years, worked as a local Church Youth Group leader, Sunday School Teacher and Children’s Ministry Coordinator as well as taught art for pre-school to high school age students. I am a lover of art, history, music and baking all things gluten free! In my free time, I also enjoy playing softball and hiking with my family!
It is my philosophy to make the learning environment a place where everyone feels welcome, recognized and encouraged! Because I have loved art since I was young, I also make it a point to include that love of creativity in everything I do, whether it be teaching someone how to read, or how to create a sculptured masterpiece! Often times, traditional approaches to education alienate learners that thrive using non-traditional approaches, which is why I feel it is so important to teach from as many angles as possible! We all absorb and retain information in our own unique way, so to have a multifaceted approach can only give more opportunities for each learner to do just that!
I am excited to offer classes in Language Arts, History, Gluten free baking, Music, French and Art and my passion for each. I truly look forward to meeting you, passing on my love of creativity and learning and creating a welcoming classroom environment where each child is able to shine!
