Class Structure

This club is designed to give space for independent lego fans and builders to come together and learn, build, teach and show off some their coolest ideas and projects.  It's a safe, engaging and supportive space to think about what they want to build with legos.  Each class will give a different opportunity to learn about some aspect of legos whether is planning, building or displaying the latest and greatest sets, tips or creations.  

Most classes will start with a video and free form idea and will be followed by 30 minutes of individual building when I will stop by their screen to see what whey are working on, answer any questions they might have and hopefully learn from their skills and great ideas.  

At the end of each class we will bring the class back together to see the results of that class time and if time permits allow some students to share with us what they built, what sparked their idea and any other wisdom they can impart to the group.

Along the way we might provide challenge builds or some group games that will vary throughout the year and the class.

Students may brings sets if they wish and with your permission, but a basic set of building Legos is all that is needed for any of the in class sessions.

I have capped the class size at 8 and will open other time slots if there is a need.

Teaching Style

I am a high school and college English teacher and attorney by trade, but I love Legos and have used them for years as a type of mindfulness practice.  I will provide space for learners to observe this in both a group and individual setting with my own builds shared with the whole group and during individual meetings while they are building during class.  I bring only my fascination with Legos and my belief that it can be a great space for kids to learn not just how to build but how to express themselves and gracefully learn from others as they do the same.
