Credentials and Experience: I am licensed in Texas, focusing on EC-6th grade, complete with STR (Science of Teaching Reading). Your child is in capable hands.
Teaching style/Method:
• Hands-On Learning: Incorporating hands-on activities and experiential learning allows students to actively engage with the material. Activities such as experiments, group projects, and educational games can make learning more memorable and enjoyable for young learners.
• Differentiated Instruction: Recognizing that students have different learning styles and abilities, an effective elementary teacher uses differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learners. This may involve providing varied instructional approaches, resources, and assessments to meet individual student needs.
• Visual Aids and Multimedia: Utilizing visual aids, multimedia resources, and technology enhances understanding and retention of concepts for elementary students. Visuals such as charts, diagrams, videos, and interactive presentations can help make abstract concepts more concrete and accessible.
• Active Participation: Encouraging active participation and fostering a collaborative learning environment promotes student engagement and interaction. Teachers can facilitate discussions, group work, and peer-to-peer teaching opportunities to encourage students to share their ideas and learn from one another.
• Positive Reinforcement and Encouragement: Providing positive reinforcement, praise, and encouragement fosters a supportive classroom environment where students feel motivated and empowered to learn. Recognizing and celebrating students' achievements, efforts, and progress can boost their confidence and self-esteem.
• Scaffolding and Guided Practice: Offering scaffolded instruction and guided practice helps students build upon their existing knowledge and skills. Teachers can provide step-by-step guidance, modeling, and support as students work towards mastering new concepts and skills.
• Flexible and Responsive Teaching: Remaining flexible and responsive to students' interests, questions, and feedback allows teachers to adapt their instruction to meet evolving learning needs. Being attuned to students' individual strengths, challenges, and interests enables teachers to personalize instruction and provide targeted support.
• Culturally Responsive Teaching: Recognizing and valuing students' diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives is essential for creating an inclusive classroom environment. Culturally responsive teaching involves incorporating diverse content, perspectives, and instructional approaches that resonate with students' identities and cultural backgrounds.
• Clear Communication: Using clear and concise language, as well as providing explicit instructions and explanations, helps students understand expectations and navigate learning tasks effectively. Effective communication also involves actively listening to students, asking clarifying questions, and providing constructive feedback.
• Reflective Practice: Engaging in reflective practice allows teachers to continuously assess and improve their teaching effectiveness. Reflecting on lessons, student learning outcomes, and instructional strategies enables teachers to identify strengths, areas for growth, and opportunities for refinement in their teaching practice.
Progress Tracking: Progress will be tracked based on each student. I want to ensure that we are excelling in the right direction.
Communication: We will communicate via Outschool/email and update you after every class.
Policies: I understand life happens but if you cannot make a lesson, please let me know 24 hours in advance. I do understand in the event of an emergency/illness. If you do miss a lesson without notice you are responsible for payment.
Feedback and Evaluation: I will provide the child with feedback throughout the lesson to ensure understanding of the material. I will do 3 evaluations throughout the tutoring session. The first will see where the student is, the second will be the progress made by the student (middle of the sessions), and the third and final evaluation will be done in the last session. If the student needs more assistance, we will discuss it after the final evaluation.
Goals: We will discuss a main goal that you would like your child to meet. It can be a simple goal such as learning all of the correct letter sounds. Once we have come up with a goal, we will create a plan together to ensure we set your child up to successfully meet this goal.
