수업 소개

In this one time session, the student will be reviewing how to factor quadratic equations also known as trinomials usually seen in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. This class will be good for students who have completed Algebra 1 and just entering Algebra 2.
I will be showing how to factor trinomials with an easier method for students who have struggled with math or don't feel as confidently in their math skills in multiplying integers like multiplying positive and negative numbers.
The method is called the F.M.L. Method where FML stands for the First number times the Last number in order to find the Middle number. I will be doing a teacher led instruction in how to factor trinomials step by step with a few examples where I will clarify any questions or misunderstandings about the process. Next, once we are comfortable about the process, we will work as a group to work a few more examples collaboratively where the teacher and students will discuss what the next step is and reinforce the method the factoring trinomials. Finally, to show proficiency in the F.M.L. method, the students will play a live game to show some competition and put their skills to the test by working out some problems individually with a Quizizz game that will self-assess the student and let them know if they are doing it correctly.

Hello! My name is Francisco Marroquin also known as Mr. T as my students like to call me. I graduated in 2012 from the University of Texas - Pan American with a bachelors in Mathematics and a secondary school concentration. I started out my career as a math tutor in a high school setting. I am currently a certified Math Teacher in Texas for grades 7-12 and have taught Algebra 1, 2, Pre-Calculus, and Geometry for 5 years in the high school setting. I've typically taught students between the ages of 14 -18 . Although I've taught primarily high school objective courses in this age group, I am open to expanding my range of classes to teach whatever Math students want to learn and ages 10 and up.  I'm always telling people that you don't have to be good at math in order to do math. All it takes is an open mind and a willingness to try.

I also like playing video games and reading comic books and I will use this as a topic of conversation to be able to connect with students. I grew up playing video games on a lot of systems by Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo and can teach some tip and tricks on getting better at games as well.

When I'm not doing Math or playing video games, I'm usually spending time with my wife and 2 year old son.
