Sight words/high frequency words are one of the foundational skills needed for beginner readers to master.  Sight words/high frequency words are in 50-70% of text that students will read!  Knowing these words by "sight" will decrease their effort in decoding, and increase their comprehension (understanding) of the overall text.  This course is excellent for those who are just learning to read and have already taken the first "Learn to Read" course, or already know the following words: a, the, I, can, see, we, go, to, am, are, in, for, they, on, at, look, you, all, of, and, like.

In this course (Set B), they will learn 44 sight words in 6 weeks!  After, students have mastered the Set B (Part 2) Learn to Read Course, I will offer a Part 3 or Set C course!  With the completion of all 3 courses, students will have learned 101 sight words, which will give them the confidence and skill needed to become an effective beginner reader!  

The lessons will be engaging and taught with enthusiasm!  Google slides will be used as a visual, along with journals, drawing, sentence writing, spelling activities, Play-Doh, and a variety of games!  In every class, they will practice writing their sight words and using them in a sentence (either copied or made up).  They will also practice spelling each sight word using letter tiles and/or magnetic letters.  Students will have the opportunity to draw, trace, create their words (and pictures) using materials of their choice (crayons, glitter and glue, paint, markers, Play-Doh, etc.).  Students will also read a variety of books (from Reading A-Z) and poems with their sight word in it, with a chance to create their own story or book.

Week 5: be, but, had, as, blue, black, white, red, yellow, green, orange, purple
   -Book 9: "She Will Be"
   -Book 10: "I Had to Look"

Week 6: each, get, from, find, them, many
   -Book 11: "Each Will Get"
