This class will cover basic skills to prepare students to start Kindergarten including literacy, math, cognitive, and fine motor skills. This class will be teacher-led, but it will be highly interactive with lots of movement, discussion questions and hands-on work during each lesson. Students should a have some knowledge of the alphabet, numbers and shapes as this class is mostly a review of basic skills learned in preschool and practice for Kindergarten. Each class will have 4 components...
Students will gain literacy skills: listening to stories and answering questions, alphabet knowledge, and phonological awareness; math skills: counting, shapes, patterns, graphing, and measurement; cognitive skills; following multi-step directions and classification; and fine motor skills: writing and cutting.
I have taught preschool for 12+ years and regularly meet with kindergarten teachers to discuss their expectations.
