Are you a dinosaur EXPERT? Did you binge the latest season of Camp Cretaceous? Are you eagerly awaiting the next Jurassic World movie? Are your bookshelves lined with Dinosaur reference books? Do you head straight to the science and nature section of the library? Is your room overflowing with dinosaur toys and action figures? Then this club is for you! Come test your dinosaur knowledge and meet other kids who love cretaceous creatures just as much as you do. We'll play games, share our favorite dinosaur toys, books, and facts, and have fun practicing showing off our dinosaur expertise. This class is meant for dino lovers at every level--beginner to expert. I will be sure to provide opportunities for every student to participate and feel accomplished and included. The competitive element of the games will be light-hearted and is designed to be a positive experience for all participants. No actual prizes will be given--just bragging rights and the awesome feeling that you know a lot about something you love. Each class will follow the same basic format, although the exact content will vary from week to week. Here is the basic schedule: Welcome and supply check plus casual chat (5 minutes) Show-and-tell (typically 1-2 minutes per child) A dino-themed game or other challenge (25-30 minutes) (on occasion) Presentation time if applicable (if it is a building or sculpting challenge, for example) (optional--1 minute per child) Wrap-up and goodbye Our Summer/Early Fall 2024 schedule will be as follows: Week of 8/11 Dinosaur Challenge (factile game) Week of 8/18 Wheel of Dinos plus True or False (time permitting) Week of 8/25 Dinosaur Trivia Week of 9/1 Dinosaur Detective Scavenger Hunt + ID game (time permitting) Week of 9/8 Volcano BOOM and Trivia Week of 9/15 Dinosaur Challenge (factile game) Week of 9/22 Dino Masters: Build It/ Draw It/ Sculpt It (mini creative challenges) Future games and themes TBD (weekly game theme will also be announced in the classroom the day prior to our class meeting). All themes are subject to change based on class preference. Any changes will be posted prior to the live meeting in the virtual classroom.

We will discuss relevant topics such as carnivores as meat-eaters, extinction, volcanos that are part of the natural world but may be upsetting to some sensitive learners. Please be assured that all content will be presented in a sensitive, age-appropriate manner.
Regarding supplies/activities:
Movement activities are basic in nature (animal moves, etc) but please be sure to provide adult supervision if you feel it is necessary. Participation in movement activities is no required. Please contact the teacher with any concerns.
All challenges will be age-appropriate in their nature and execution.
Allergy Note: Playdough may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease. I am happy to provide a recipe for gluten-free playdough upon request, or suggest alternative supplies.

--Show-and-tell item related to the theme (book, toy, or fact to share) --Assorted dinosaur toys (recommended but not required) --Access to a color printer may sometimes be requested--please reach out to the instructor if you do not have one so we can figure it out together. --Creative building/drawing/sculpting materials (ie paper and markers, plastic building bricks or other construction toys, clay or playdough, etc) Each week, I will post the materials you will need to have ready to use a day before class begins, They will always be from the list above. I'm so excited to share my love of all things DINOSAUR with you! I've been teaching STEAM and art classes through fun, engaging topics like these to preschool through middle school for 8 years through an independent STEAM education company, as well as at a local arts facility. I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool. Not only will we be learning and sharing about dinosaurs (yay!)--but we'll sneak in some observation, comparing and contrasting, art and building skills and more--all things that young scientists love to learn and practice!리뷰
