Come and join us for a magical adventure in the enchanted forest with Summer the Unicorn and Freya the Fairy! 

* Each week there will be 3 videos uploaded to the classroom for the start of the week for parents to watch when it is convenient for them. Video 1 will be the story, introduction to the sounds and tricky word being learnt that week and an abc song. Video 2 will include reading games to practise blending the sounds we are learning to read words. Video 3 be a shorter video looking at 3 sentences with our sounds in.  
* There will be 5 worksheets provided each week. These include an ‘I Spy’ worksheet along with a worksheet for each of the sounds learnt that week where there will be words to read and pictures for children to try to match to the words. 
* Reading games include a ‘roll and read’ game where the teacher will use a big dice to generate numbers. We will count along to read different words. 
* We will also play a game where we will read words on flowers. Some of the words will be nonsense words and some will be real. Your learner can pause the video after the teacher has modelled the word to tell their adult if they think it is a real word or a nonsense word. The  teacher will model separating the sounds and blending these together to read the words. 
*We will finish by reading some sentences which will incorporate some of the words in with the phase 4 sounds. 

* Worksheets to support at home: 
Each week the teacher will upload an ‘I Spy’ worksheet in the classroom for children to identify things in which have our sounds in that we have learnt that week. There will also be 4 worksheets each week uploaded with pictures and words on where children can have a go at reading the words and matching the words to the pictures. 

Week 1: sounds st, nd, mp, nt. Words such as nest, gift, lamp etc. Sight word ‘to’ 
Week 2: sounds sk, lt lk, pt. words such as tusk, belt, milk etc. Sight word ‘into’ 
Week 3: sounds gr, cr, bl, br. words such as crab, green, black. Sight word ‘she’ 
Week 4: pl, cl, sp, sm. Words such as plant, clown, spin, small. Sight word ‘he’ 

Each week children will be given a weekly challenge to complete at home if they wish to, for example drawing a perfect house for Freya the fairy to live in. Children can post their pictures on the classroom page each week and they can see their friends pictures on there. 

Flex classes are perfect for families with busy schedules. These classes may suit children who are not comfortable with their camera on.
