While the main focus of this weekly club will be on introducing young learners to the important workers in our communities, we will also be practicing important primary-age social and educational skills as we learn about towns, cities, and social studies and STEAM concepts.  The short lesson at the beginning will provide a framework for these discussions and will help the young explorer to build and develop observation, recreation, and communication skills, as well as foster curiosity, wonder, and interest in the world around them.  The "community handbook" pages will serve as a fun keepsake and reference for future career inspiration.

*Sparks interest in future career choices. When primary learners meet and learn about the helpers who keep our communities safe, maintained, and orderly, they’re also learning about all kinds of helpful and exciting careers.

I'm so excited to explore the important people in our communities with you!  I've been teaching STEAM and social studies topics to preschool through middle school for 7 years through an independent STEAM education company, and I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool.  Not only will we be learning about the exciting world around us (and beyond!), but we'll sneak in some colors, numbers and math, comparing and contrasting, observation, movement and more--all things that PreK-2nd grade kids love to learn and practice!
