Let's draw dinosaurs together! We'll practice some basic techniques for observing and drawing dinosaurs together. By learning to recognize the main shapes and features of some of our favorite dinosaurs, students will build their confidence and ability to recreate any dinosaur they find. This is a beginning drawing class. I want to meet each student at their skill level. This class in intended to foster positive feelings about drawing and creating, while it draws on the natural curiosity and observational skills of each student. Although the drawings will be guided, students are encouraged to use their imaginations to add any "flare" they wish to their drawings. At the end of each class, each student will be encouraged (but never required) to show their progress. They will also be given time to share their other creative projects and artworks (time-permitting). This is an introductory course designed especially for early elementary learners. In addition to learning a bit about our weekly featured dinosaurs and drawing them together, your young learner will also practice sharing and presentation skills, following directions, learning to ask questions or ask for help, as well as practicing shape recognition and observation skills. This is a wonderful companion class to my weekly "field guide" class: Dinosaur Collectors' Club, which goes into greater depth about each featured dinosaur, and includes weekly show-and-tell, games, discussion and more. Some discussion of dinosaurs will involve mentioning how they hunt and eat meat (if they are carnivores). I have never had an issue, but children who are sensitive to this subject should be aware. I do my best to keep the class pretty tame and age-appropriate.
수업 자료
Blank paper or a drawing pad/sketchbook (recommended). I prefer SPIRAL BOUND so that it may be opened flat for easier drawing. Pencils, pens, colored pencils, or other drawing/coloring supplies. Pencil Sharpener Good, working eraser Printer (for printing references if needed--I will also show them on-screen in class) Show-and-tell (can be other artwork or projects the student has been working on, or other dinosaur-related paraphernalia) Here is a link to suggested supplies/examples found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2IH1KEKIZYYHF?ref_=wl_share

I'm so excited to share my love of creating and especially DINOSAURS with you! I've been teaching STEAM and art classes through fun, engaging topics like these to preschool through middle school for 6 years through an independent STEAM education company, as well as at a local arts facility. I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool. Not only will we be learning about dinosaurs (yay!)--but we'll sneak in some colors, shapes, comparing and contrasting, observation, art skills and more--all things that elementary artists and paleontologists love to learn and practice!
