I’m offering this class because I love languages. My three years of Japanese study at UCLA as well as my four years living abroad in Japan as an English teacher have prepared me with the passion and skill-set that make me the ideal Japanese teacher for beginners. I will be sharing with students the same techniques that my native-Japanese friends and teachers have used to help me get quickly past the hurdles that tend to slow down most beginners. My teaching approach is extremely visual. I love pictures and illustrations and slideshows. Like playing a sport or musical instrument, Japanese conversation in my class is learned from drilling and repetition until correct responses are given automatically, quickly, and naturally with little or no thinking.

No outside materials or purchases will be necessary. Having a working printer is not necessary for this class, but the ability to print the handouts will help to make learning easier and more engaging.
