Students will practice the following 21st century skills:  Problem Solving, Interpretation, Creativity, Artistry, Curiosity, Imagination, Innovation, Personal expression, Perseverance,  Self-discipline and Adaptability.  Students will also practice cooperation, collaboration, communicating ideas clearly using voice, facial expressions, gestures and body, and whole body listening.

As an actor, I love to play and explore.  Improv games and structures help me learn through play, and I love sharing that experience with my fellow artists of all ages and at all levels of experience.  As a playwright, I find that Improv helps me come up with three-dimensional characters that audiences can laugh with and care about.  As a person, Improv makes me smile and helps me every day of my life to navigate all kinds of situations with a sense of humor.  I can't wait to share these games and structures with you!

There is no mandatory homework assignment, however students will leave class with ideas of games to play with friends and family and skills to practice on their own.

The instructor conducts formative assessments during each class session to be sure that each student comprehends and feels confident using our foundational acting and improvisation skills.  Learning goals are designed with student input, and are clearly stated and referred to throughout the lesson so that students can self-assess and have a structure within which to dare and take creative risks.
