수업 소개

영어 수준 - 알 수 없음
미국 8학년 - 11학년 학년
레벨 Beginner - Advanced
This course is structured to provide experiences that will equip students to write humorously. Our primary focus will be short-form humor pieces, which offer students the chance to develop a unique premise and employ a variety of humor techniques — including irony, point of view, syntax, diction, alliteration, sarcasm, satire, and more. We will review the use of these techniques in sample humorous work and then practice implementing these techniques ourselves!

Students should come to the course with an open mind; this course is not structured to debate what is/isn’t funny but rather to explore the different ways that humor can be used in writing. Comedy’s most common modern-day formats are video and theater, but this course will focus on writing. The byproduct of taking the course is that students will be able to make all of their writing more engaging and interesting and apply the various techniques we discuss in other written applications.

Throughout the course, I will provide written feedback and suggestions for student writing. On the last day of the course, students will have the chance to read some of their original work to their classmates (this reading will be optional).

My name is Lee and I am an established English teacher with a soft spot for delicious, homemade food. I am inspired by the Great British Baking Show, Top Chef, and the like -- but even more inspired by working with young people -- both in the kitchen and in the classroom. I'm so glad to be on Outschool and leading a diverse array of classes!
