In this jam-packed art class, students will learn pivotal watercolor skills by creating paintings of cats. We'll practice wet on wet, wet on dry, detail brush strokes. pulling, lifting, and more. We'll create two paintings step by step. As paintings dry, we'll use a pencil and pen to add some fun lines to complete our illustrations & turn them into mixed media artwork. Miss Wendy shares her process honestly and provides pro tips throughout. We'll work at combatting perfectionism, which can be a barrier to art. Happy accidents are expected and embraced as we let the watercolor paints "do their thing" and spread in often unpredictable ways. But there are some great hacks used by artists that we'll also use. These are skills that can be applied to students' art for a lifetime!

Required: - watercolor paint set with at least 6 colors (in dry cake/pan form) - soft paintbrush(es) appropriate for watercolors (at least one middle-sized/size 8, or so) - watercolor paper (does not have to be expensive, but should be actual watercolor paper) - container with clean water - one or more paper towels - a pencil - a fine-line ink pen (preferably water-resistant) Not required, but helpful: - spray bottle with water inside (You can use this to spray your paints, so they're easier to use.) - something to protect the table
