Students should have a notebook and pen/pencil for notes. For the class where we play The Dice Game, students will need the worksheet given at the beginning of class and 4-8 dice for the game (I take some from my Yatzzee game for this exercise).

This class focuses on giving students the tools they need for creating a fictional world. That said, we will cover sensitive topics such as war, famine, relations between different populations and people groups, sickness, magic, populations or persons in power, power shifts in leadership, poverty, and potential political unrest. These conversations could lead to discussions about discrimination as well. When discussing these topics, our goal is to think about how these things would affect the creatures and beings in the stories that students create. Meaning, we will discuss how these topics would create conflict in ways that would develop or affect the plot of the students' stories. We will never be graphic or insensitive in our discussions, nor will any of the videos we watch be on these topics or display these topics.
