행복한 핸드라이팅! Roll-A-Letter, Write-A-Letter: 초보자를 위한 대문자

Handwriting made fun is exactly what our young Pre-K and Kindergarteners need! Get your child a step ahead with their handwriting! Handwriting can be a frustrating and daunting skill for many young learners. These days, there is more pressure for the youngest students to write their names, letters, and numbers. This class will help them develop confidence in their handwriting skills and alphabet knowledge. Through modeling, songs, and hands-on and developmentally appropriate activities, students will enjoy learning to write CAPITAL letters!

Class structure:

-Introduction to strokes
-Intro to first letter-of-the-day
-Discuss the lines and curves in letter-of-the-day
-Roll-a-letter with playdough
-Modeled pencil grip
-Discuss where to begin writing a letter using a song
-Tracing and writing letter on given hand-out
-Hand strength exercises and/or finger play
-Intro to second letter-of-the-day
-Discuss the lines and curves in second letter-of-the-day
-Roll-a-letter with playdough
-Practice pencil grip
-Discuss where to begin writing a letter using a song
-Tracing and writing letter on given hand-out
-Play memory match game if time allows
-Goodbye song

In each lesson, we will focus on two CAPITAL letters. Students will learn vocabulary to understand direction and strokes used for each letter, alphabet knowledge, and develop fine motor skills. 

If you are unable to print the handouts, you can recreate them using markers or highlighters. The star is very important so please use a dark colored marker to draw the star, and a light colored marker to write the letter. 

The playdough part of class may be a little difficult for your child AT FIRST. I will be showing them how to roll their playdough into "snakes." The more classes they take, the easier it will become. I ask that an adult or older sibling is near by to help the child the first few lessons to help them learn to roll their play dough correctly. Again, it will get easier with the more times they do it. 

This is an on-going class that you can jump in at any time. Every class will have the same structure. To complete the alphabet will take 12 weeks. If you want to continue to make sure your child learns every letter, they will need to be subscribed for 12 weeks.

Oct. 2: O and Q
Oct. 9: G and S
Oct. 16: J and D
Oct. 23: P and B
Oct. 30: R and K 
Nov. 6: A and M
Nov. 13: N and V
Nov. 20: W and X
Nov. 27: Y and Z

The cycle of these letters with continue in this order. 

Your student will hear the same introductions and language used every class even if they began the first lesson because repetition is key in handwriting. Every class will be a little different in that every class will have two new letters. The discussion of letter L will be very different than the discussion of letter B. 

If class time allows, we will discuss the letter's sounds and objects that begin with the letters of the day.
