This class is intended to build vocabulary using examples and context, as well as creative assignments from students. 
Each meeting we will:
 (1) Consider the clues- I provide samples and clues. Together we discuss and dissect samples of work.  
(2) Produce the vocabulary- Students are give the list of words.  
(3) View the definition- Students are given the definitions. 
(4) Produce examples- Students create their own examples.  
(5) Submit an assigned paragraph- after class, the student think about one or more of the vocabulary word and produces an example either found or created in paragraph form and writes a short explanation.  

Week 1 Words: Ethos, Pathos, Logos, Bathos
Week 2 Words: Antithesis, Allusion, Metonymy, Paradox
Week 3 Words: Satire, Symbolism, Theme, Metaphor
Week 4 Words: Syntax, Zeugma, Syllogism, Parallelism  

This class requires student participation and discussion as we break down samples of writing to discover their properties and entertain how we might apply similar techniques or tools to our writing. 

Students need prior experience with reading and typing. Students will submit paragraphs after each class.
