Get Ready! Math Prep-Grade 6

Use your summer to prevent the "summer slide" or preview content for the upcoming school year. Each class will take students through the Math standards required for the 6th grade using Khan academy and online games as our guide.

This course aims to prepare students for 6th grade math concepts, allowing students to preview concepts introduced in 6th grade math or prevent "summer slide" as they prepare for 7th grade math. 

Structurally, we will have one live meeting per week, each 45 minutes.  The first half of class will typically be spent with concept exploration discussion using a sample problem or idea generating photo or task.  The second half of the class will cover application of concepts through grade level math problems related to the class content.  After class the student will be assigned an assessment/practice to help guide the next lesson.

By week 11 of the course, we will have previewed most of the skills to prepare for 6th grade math. Based on the results, I will be able to offer a personalized study plan focused on any remaining points of growth. 

Assessments will be offered at the close of each class to allow students to practice the skills covered during that day's class. Assessment data will be used to create a suggestion on individualized student plans at the end of the course. 

Students will need a gmail address in order to join their sections google classroom. They will utilize Khan academy and Kahoot resources through their google classroom account.
