Class Experience

The way I teach this skill is very easy to learn and your child will be prepared for success in Geometry.
I will show students how to do an exercise on the whiteboard. They will learn by actually doing example exercises during class. I will repeat with another exercise and will explain as many times as needed until the students are ready to do the exercises by themselves. Once started, I will check their answers for accuracy and follow up with any necessary explanations. I encourage all participants to try as many exercises as possible. I follow up the class with an upload of homework with the solutions. Why is geometry important in everyday life?

Full use of brain capacity.

Geometry helps you to bring together both sides of your brain. In other words, not just be a left-brain thinker, but also a right-brain thinker. The left-brain is the more logical, technical field, whereas the right-brain is the part that visualizes and where the artist gets their creative inspiration from. Not many people have the ability to make the two connect and work together as one. Geometry will assist in doing that.

Geometry in Art and Architecture
Geometry helps us in deciding what materials to use, what design to make and also plays a vital role in the construction process itself. Different houses and buildings are built in different geometric shapes to give a new look as well as to provide proper ventilation inside the house. Geometrical tools like the protractor, ruler, measuring tape, and much more are used in construction work, astronomy, measurements, drawing, etc. Different art forms are made by joining different geometric shapes together. Engineers, architects, and builders use geometry to calculate area and volume before they start making plans for different structures.

Geometry in Domestic Activities
Surprisingly, mathematics plays an important role in the culinary arts. There are helpful tools, such as measuring cups, measuring spoons and scales, to aid in food preparation. However, some background in measurement, fractions, and geometry is necessary when cooking and baking. Chefs need to be able to measure and weigh ingredients, time recipes and adjust and measure cooking temperatures. Points, lines, angles, curves, two- and three-dimensional shapes, volumes, and proportions form the basics of home design as well as geometry. Video games use geometry to help viewers experience depth and movement. Other recreational activities, such as building kites, constructing skateboard ramps or creating Lego require geometry. Geometry allows you to determine how shapes and figures fit together to maximize efficiency and visual appeal. Quilting requires geometry to ensure that your linens have symmetry and visual appeal.

Some professions use geometry to do their job properly. For instance, computer imaging, something that is used these days for designing, creating video games, animations and things like that, are made using geometric concepts. For mapping also geometry is being used. Mapping is a necessary element in professions like navigation, astronomy, and surveying. From sketching to calculating distances, they use geometry to do their job. In addition to this, professions like medicine benefit from geometric imaging. Technologies such as MRI s and CT scans are used both for surgical aids and diagnosis. Methods like these enable doctors to do their job in a better, safer, and simpler way.

Hence, it is observed that geometry affects us even in the most basic details of our lives. Irrespective of the form, it helps us understand specific phenomena and in uplifting the quality of life.

수업 자료
A very sharp pencil or a mechanical pencil ( 5 mm lead), a compass, a ruler and a protractor.
You can use keywords search on google "geometry compass kits for kids"; there are many kits available.
A metal compass is preferable as it makes for more accurate constructions.

Hello parents:
I teach Arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Business Calculus, Calculus and High School and College Statistics.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. I also have an Educator Certificate from the Dade County Public School System.
I worked as an Engineer for HNU Systems, an environmental company based in Boston. Part of my job duties was to train personnel in industrial, academic and corporate settings.
In 1995 I started tutoring people from all walks of life in the area of Mathematics.
One of my very first tutoring clients was a college professor who needed to pass the GRE exam in order to obtain her Ph.D.
After a few sessions, she told me "You are a natural teacher". This comment reinforced the fact that teaching for me is not just a job but a "calling".
I believe anyone can learn the language of Mathematics. My teaching style is eclectic but effective.
I have taught many students who were convinced they could never learn Math.
I have also taught many college students whose "professors" could not teach.
I take special delight in proving to students that many people with advanced degrees have no idea how to teach. (This is prevalent in many universities.)
My students usually tell me that I make it look easy, and they usually ace the class.
I am married to a wonderful woman and we have a teenage daughter who is home-schooled.
My daughter and I are working on a plan to get a perfect score on the SAT.
