In this class, students will be introduced to the different processes that change rocks over time (erosion, heat, and pressure). We will discuss the differences between rocks and minerals and examine examples of each rock types (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary). Students will make an edible rock cycle with starburst candies. Topics included will be: - the rock cycle - igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks - common uses for rocks, minerals, and gems - plate tectonics - the purposes of mining
