This class is for young writers to practice writing. Utilizing the Writer’s Workshop method, a method proven to sharpen creative writing skills, students will spend time  each week in live class and at least two hours a week working privately on their creative writing projects. Students will be given visual or writing prompts at the being of each session and then guided in a hands-on activity. Students should have access to crayons, colored pencils and construction paper.   

Writing workshop students will learn the difference between criticizing someone’s writing and encouraging others. This sets the tone for the entire workshop/ class. 

Besides being fun, students will learn higher-level writing skills such as plot, characterization, theme, etc. through fun writing projects. Students will be encouraged to share their writing with each other. 

Sessions will focus on:

Session 1: The Elements of telling a Great Story
Session 2: Developing Characters in your story
Session 3; Plot: How to draft an interesting plot
Session 4; Poetry: Fun ways to write poetry
Session 5: The Short Story: composing an interesting story
Session 6: Revising your work 

Since the workshop method is used the enrollment must be at least six students, but no more than ten.pupils, to conduct the class, Students will share their assigned writing projects/ assignments with other students.
