수업 소개
Using nationally recognized 3rd grade spelling word lists, we will reinforce letter patterns and their sounds, prefixes/suffixes, and self-confidence in our spelling abilities. We incorporate a lot of games, puzzles, movement (such as jumping, clapping, walking/running in place), and sound into instruction time. This is a no-judgment zone where all abilities and ages are welcome. Students will need the ability to print off the lists, worksheets, and puzzles throughout the week. And please feel free to join us at any time, as the weeks are not dependent upon one another. The tentative schedule is as shown. Week of: Topic: 12/12/22 VCe words 12/19/22 -sion suffix 1/2/23 -able suffix 1/9/23 -est suffix 1/16/23 when two vowels go walking.... 1/23/23 r-controlled a words 1/30/23 -ai- vowel team 2/6/23 -aw- blend 2/13/23 double consonants 2/20/23 -c, -k, or -ck Please note, this class sold out frequently in the past, so grab a spot while you still can!

We incorporate movement into class such as jumping, walking, skipping, and running in place. The likelihood of injury is commensurate with a child playing outside.
Also, we will occasionally use third party tools such as ABCya!, YouTube, and Mr. Nussbaum's Games. ABCya! requires a student account, but no personal information is collected for the account. YouTube and Mr. Nussbaum's Games do not require any account.

Each week I will post materials in our classroom. Kids should come to every class with those materials, as well as notebook paper and something to write with.

Hi there! My name is Ms. Kelly and I am currently teaching elementary STEM. I graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor's degree in secondary education, in Latin, Speech, and Theatre/Acting. I also completed premedical studies and spent 26 years in healthcare. My talents and hobbies include writing, ceramics, and gardening, and I am an award-winning amateur photographer. With my passions in mind, I teach phonics, spelling, and writing to our young kids, science and writing to middle schoolers, and Latin to all ages including high schoolers. I also have a lot of experience with gifted children and their unique educational needs.
Also, as a mom of three ADHD boys, I know that sitting still and listening doesn't equate to learning. Kids learn best when they're moving and having fun, so humor and silliness play a big role in all my classes, so expect classes that are interactive and upbeat, in order to keep the kids engaged.
