We use Kathy Blocki’s Flute Method Book 1 to learn the flute. This series focuses on creating a great tone on the flute and flexibility to play in octaves, delaying more complex rhythms (when compared to other series) in favor of this foundation. Each song has an online track that students can use to help them hear the music and learn it. We play games that reinforce musical concepts. Week 1Lesson 1Getting a Sound from the Flute- We will use the Pneumo Pro and the headjoint of our flute to create a sound out of the flute. We will attempt to make high and low sounds. - Students will see notes on spaces and lines. - Students will hear a beautiful flute tone. - Students will learn about flute care.Week 2Lesson 2Headjoint Songs- Students will begin to learn simple songs on the flute headjoint alone. Some of these are found in the Blocki Method Book. Songs include Mary Had a Little Lamb and Swinging High - Students will continue using their Pneumo Pro to learn how to create an ideal sound. - Students will learn quarter notes and half notes.Week 3Lesson 3Continuation of Headjoint Songs- Students continue playing songs on their headjoint alone. - Previous concepts are reinforced with games and repetition.Week 4Lesson 4Putting the Flute Together!- Students learn how to align their whole flute and learn where to put their fingers. - Students learn how to balance their flute in their hands. - Students learn songs that use the headjoint alone, as well as basic songs with their beginning notes: B, A, and G.Week 5Lesson 5Review Day- Previous lesson material is reinforced with games and repetition.Week 6Lesson 6Pages 13-14- Students learn songs such as Steps and Hops, Hot Cross Buns, French Song, Monkey Bars Round, Bouncing B's, and Snowflake Frolic.Week 7Lesson 7Pages 13-14Reinforcement of the previous lesson. It is common to need to repeat material. If we don't need to repeat things, we will keep moving. Past experience tells me we will need to repeat things :)Week 8Lesson 8Pages 13-14-Reinforcement of Lesson 6.Week 9Lesson 9Page 15Students learn Mary's Theme, Mary's Octave Antics.Week 10Lesson 10Page 15- Reinforcement of the previous lesson.Week 11Lesson 11Page 16Students learn B to C Thumb Exercise, Go Team!, Rigadon, and Frog Jumping Contest. (New note: C)Week 12Lesson 12Page 16 (again)-Reinforcement of lesson 11.Week 13Lesson 13Page 17Students Learn Tricky Rhythm, Bouncy Rhythm, Possum up a' Simmon Tree, and Half Pipe Stunts. (New rest value: quarter rest. New note value: whole note).Week 14Lesson 14Page 17 (again)-Reinforcement of lesson 13.Week 15Lesson 15Page 18 and F Major Five NoteStudents write their own composition. Students learn new song Moonlight. Students learn F major five note pattern. Additionally, learn G major 5 note pattern. (New note: D).Week 23Lesson 23Page 23Students learn songs B-Flat, Sneaky Cat, Lightly Row, and Singing Flutes Duo.Week 24Lesson 24Page 23 (and 24)-Reinforcement of lesson 23, as well as completing exercises on page 24.Week 25Lesson 25Page 25Songs include Tricky B's, Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Olympic Speed Track Racing, and Popcorn Composition Project.Week 26Lesson 26Page 25 (again)-Reinforcement of lesson 25.Week 27Lesson 27Page 26Songs include F Major Five-Note Exercise, Mirrors srorriM, Jingle Bells, and Rabbit Chase Duet.Week 28Lesson 28Page 26 (again)-Reinforcement of lesson 27. Students learn Bb major five note pattern (new note: Eb).Week 33Lesson 33Page 30Students learn Ode to Joy, Ode to Joy in Octaves, and Mexican Hat Dance.Week 34Lesson 34Page 30 (again) and page 31-Reinforcement of lesson 33. Students complete exercises on page 31.Week 35Lesson 35Page 31Students learn Pinky Workout, French Song Duo, Daring Detectives, and Thick Dark Chocolate Taffy.Week 36Lesson 36Page 31 (again)-Reinforcement of lesson 35.
- Students learn proper posture and tone production on the flute. A musical foundation is laid with note reading and rhythm counting.

빈도: 포함됨피드백: 포함됨세부 내용: Students are expected to practice 25 minutes daily. In the very beginning, it is likely they will only need 5-10 minutes per day. After the first month or two they will need to practice more in order to build the muscle memory necessary to play the flute.
Flute (reach out to me directly for help making a selection) Blocki Flute Method Book 1 (not flute Zoo) Pneumo Pro Music Stand Pencils Laptop instead of mobile device for zoom meetings. This is because the Zoom mobile app lacks certain sound settings and often filters out the flute entirely. That's a problem for a flute class.
